Have you ever considered why you might want to file a patent or protect your intellectual property (IP), or why you might not? Trevor Prentice takes us through a few considerations for entrepreneurs. He’ll explore:

  •  An overview of intellectual property including copyright, trademark, patent, and industrial design
  •  The most important things to know before jumping in
  •  Common pitfalls
  • How to move forward with protecting your IP
  • Why should you care about IP and in what ways it could bring value to your business

Trevor Prentice, The IP Link

After nearly a decade of experience managing and advising on intellectual property (patents, licensing, commercial agreements, and more), Trevor founded The IP Link to help fill the gap between business and legal services by helping businesses more easily prioritize, manage, and monetize their intellectual property. Among his various entrepreneurial side projects, Trevor sells speed cubes through Rocket Cubes and sends out a weekly newsletter called The Nerdy Parent with fun strategies for intelligent parents! Trevor has a BSc in Physics, a Masters in Aerospace Engineering, and a Certificate of Innovation and Entrepreneurship from the Michael G. Foster School of Business at the University of Washington. Trevor is refreshingly not a lawyer and can help you understand and optimize your intellectual property strategy from a business perspective.
