Have you developed an idea or invention, or created a branding and marketing strategy for your business? It’s important to understand intellectual property, and develop a strategy to make the most of it. This seminar will provide the basics of trademarks, patents, industrial designs, copyrights, and trade secrets, and tips on different ways to protect your IP to give you an advantage over the competition.
The Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) is a federal agency that provides free, unbiased guidance to entrepreneurs, and a suite of IP seminars, tools and learning resources.
About your facilitator:
Marnie Fyten is an IP Advisor with CIPO, based in Edmonton. She has a Bachelor of Science in biology, and a Master of Business Administration, and has completed internships in technology transfer and marketing with the University of Saskatchewan and with Sony in Japan. Marnie has worked with federal, provincial and territorial organizations, in policy development and program delivery.
